Farranshone Local Planning Steering Group

This group is concerned with the current and ongoing urban planning matters affecting our neighbourhood in Limerick City, Ireland.

We are all verifiably local residents.
As a group, we are engaging in dialogue with our Metro North Councillors and Limerick Active Travel.

We want to advance sustainable and progressive urban planning for all our streets.
We want to prevent damage to any neighbourhood street as a price for the improvement of another.

We regard our neighbourhood to be the roughly 500 residences bounded within:

Limerick Active Travel have acknowledged this boundary and it's through routes as per this map.

Your locality may not technically be named "Farranshone", but we are using this name for convenience as it is the most central to the affected area.

About us

This group was formed around a consensus of how we would like our neighbourhood to be planned and developed. You can download the pro-forma consensus here.

This consensus was signed by 216 local adult residents and handed to our Metro North Councillors as part of the recent Filtered Permeability Trial consultation.

You may not have seen this consensus before, or we did not call to your door at the time.
We went to as many doors as possible in the very short time period we had available during the consultation.

It is never too late for you, if you agree, to sign it and send it to all our local councillors.
(Select the "Limerick City North" councillors on the council website)

We advocate for:

  1. The recognition of our full neigbourhood boundary when urban planning and design decisions are considered.
  2. Equal and fair consideration for all our residential streets.
  3. The implementation of the NTA Permeability Best Practice Guide.

We believe that sustainable development is development through consent.
